An Interview With Modern Withdrawals

Modern Withdrawals are an Alt-Punk rock band from Oklahoma.

How did you get started, and what has led up to where you are today as an artist?

We started at the beginning of 2020 with just Damon and Kyle playing music out of Kyle’s garage. After writing a handful of songs that we released as demos, the independent label HeadWormz Records found us and we just started releasing a bunch of new singles as well as some retracks of a few of our demos, starting with ‘Who Are You’.

Who do you feel has influenced you the most as an artist?

Oh man, so many people. For me (Damon) personally, I’d say that Kyle has actually been my biggest influence. He makes me want to constantly improve and make the best stuff I can.

What do you feel sets you apart from other artists and gives you your own sound?

Our stripped-down raw sound and vocals I think set us apart.

What has been your biggest challenge and what do you feel you have learned from it?

DIY recording/mixing/mastering is always a challenge, the more we do it the more we learn how to make our sound a little more coherent.

Tell us about your latest project, what have you got going on at the moment?

We just released our new single ‘Who Are You’, and we’ve got a few more that will be dropping over the next 2 months, including a few oldies and a couple of our newer songs people haven’t heard yet.

What advice would you give to anyone new coming into the industry?

Always keep creating. A lot of this industry might be just dumb luck, but the more you create and put out for people to see, the harder it’ll be to ignore you.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank for getting you to where you are now, anyone you’d like to give a shout-out to?

HeadWormz has been great, check them out along with the other bands partnered with them, maybe buy our merch or whatever. Go check out Tom Armstrong on youtube and twitter because he’s hilarious. Listen to The Protomen. Shout out to our families.

How can fans find you?

We’re on Twitter and Facebook, as well as Youtube. Our music is pretty much on all platforms, check it out on Spotify.
