An Interview With Yung Petzi

How did you get started, and what has led up to where you are today as an artist?

I started up pretty small recording in my room with a 30$ mic. Tried going to some studios but did not feel the vibe. So I was just writing lyrics and recording for fun at home. As I got better my eyes got turned to a producer named Freshmaker who had a studio and was also working with big names in the industry. I immediately booked a session und the rest is history, I’ve been recording there since and growing on a daily basis!

Who do you feel has influenced you the most as an artist?

Definitely Xxxtentacion, Ski Mask The Slump God, Lil Peep, Smokepurpp and all them other rappers who was blowing up 2016-2017. Also a big influence was Joe Badass.

What do you feel sets you apart from other artists and gives you your own sound?

It’s gotta be my accent because I have it in both English and German. People either love it or hate it.

What has been your biggest challenge and what do you feel you have learned from it?

My biggest challenge has been ignoring the hate and keep going as I started out people where talking a lot. (I’m living in a small town) so you get to hear some things that others have been talking about you. Most of them eventually turned in to fans which is good.

Tell us about your latest project, what have you got going on at the moment?

I’m planning on releasing some fire stuff I’ve been working on the next single I’m dropping gonna be “kein Beweis” it’s has an Atlanta vibe to it but is completely in German.

What advice would you give to anyone new coming into the industry?

Stay focused, don’t let anybody tell you what you can’t do, stay humble and release as much music as possible.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank for getting you to where you are now, anyone you’d like to give a shout-out to?

Of course! First of all big thanks to my family, all my homies and supporters. I would like to thank E-rich, Mariano, brainwave and yung rox for providing me with beats. I would like to thank Max Ostwalt and Alex Seper for always going crazy on the music videos.
Last but not least I wanna thank borisD and freshmaker for letting me use the studio and Mixing & Mastering the tracks always to perfection.
