“Shining Wizard”, the opening track on Tampa, Florida based musician Chris Bryant’s debut album, “Broadcast Syndication”, sets the tone for the rest of the album and paints a vivid picture of the artist.
“I don’t belong in the world. That’s what it is. Something separates me from other people.”
The quote, taken from the 1962 film “Carnival of Souls”, is perfectly applicable to the genre-defying Chris Bryant, who seems like a tough nut to crack. He hits us out of nowhere with this mixed bag of Synthpop, EDM, Vaporwave and Future Funk that throws sad feelings and feel-good, retro inspired beats together into a blender to give us a concoction that is melancholy tinged with nostalgia. Broadcast Syndication is now available on Apple Music/iTunes, Spotify, and Amazon.
“The track is evocative of those Saturday mornings spent in front of a CRT television, wishing to God that the sounds of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Real Ghostbusters could sufficiently drown out the sounds of your parents fighting.”
