Philippe Edison is a jazz fusion saxophonist from Houston Texas who’s background begins in smooth jazz and later changes to fusion after attending Berklee college of music where he later fuses hip hop with the sound of contemporary jazz and brought rap & a new sound based on the jazz he has worked on for almost a decade. Influences include Roy Hargrove, Robert Glasper, Mike Phillips, & Walter Smith III.
Philippe has worked with Chris Dave & Derrick Hodge while apart of The Hue’s Aurora project. Outside of Jazz he’s working with Stimulus & Raydar Ellis, and will be working with Kay from the foundation on a new song Darkness II much like the original Pete Rock in sound, the man does one dirty on the SP himself and bring in the first darkness song featuring Stimulus who is a Red Bull music academy artist who made it to the finals and won.
Spaceship Earth is a touch into the sound of Cybrtron’s clear brought to us during the electro era where funk, techno, & the 808 were popular. This sound takes on a duo tones sound like Kenny G’s Midnight Motion, the single is brought from the new album “Ring Of A Pearl” which leads us into a new sound that harmonizes the sounds of electric synthesizers, MPC grooves, Rhodes & piano as well as vocoder too.
This albums states influence from James Blake, Kenny G, Flying Lotus, & The Robert Glasper Experiment, more to find in the sound of what you would’ve thought was little dragon but new to the sound of saxophone where jazz & electric sounds collide as fusion.
